Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying

This qualification reflects the trade qualified role of a bricklayer, blocklayer or paver who may have responsibility for undertaking heritage bricklaying, refractory bricklaying, bricklaying, blocklaying and paving work in residential, industrial and commercial contexts, in both existing and new constructions.

The bricklaying, blocklaying and paving industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered and assessed in this context.

Training will be conducted face to face on a fulltime basis in a classroom, with simulated work environment.

Assessment methods may include knowledge questions, practical, self-assessment.

All assessments are conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment (fairness, flexibility, validity and reliability) and rules of evidence (validity, sufficiency, authenticity and currency).

CPC33020 - Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying (113774C) qualification provides a trade outcome in bricklaying and blocking for residential and commercial construction work.

Required Construction White Card (CPCCWHS1001- Prepare to work safely in the construction industry)

Apsley College has the following entry requirements:

International students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
  • Have completed the unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
  • Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
    • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
    • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
    • Successful completion of an English Placement Test

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
• All students must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test prior to the commencement of the course.

All credit transfer applications must be supported by appropriate documentation. This may be in the form of a nationally recognised qualification certificate, transcript, and/or a statement of attainment, which corresponds with the same qualification code and name, unit code, and title as those included in the student application and date/duration of the course.
